- Project Management
Scope
The project involved the feasibility design of a high-capacity renewable hydrogen and green ammonia production plant (up to 2.200 tons/day) located at the Outer Port of La Coruña, Spain.
This included emission-free synthesis gas production and the design of dedicated maritime infrastructure for ammonia export via specialized vessels. Additionally, IDOM provided a comprehensive budget estimate based on current pricing models to guide further project phases.
Approach
IDOM was tasked with leading the feasibility design of both the production plant and the associated maritime infrastructure.
Their approach ensured the implementation of emission-free processes for hydrogen and ammonia production, alongside the design of safe and efficient tanks and pipelines. The team also focused on maritime infrastructure, designing a safe port for the export of green ammonia. The project was structured around achieving certification for sustainability standards and was managed closely to align with Fisterra Energy’s long-term goals.
Outcome
The project is expected to deliver a high-capacity production facility for green ammonia, with safe and efficient export capabilities via the port infrastructure.
The design and sustainability certification aim to meet Fisterra Energy’s objectives of producing and exporting ammonia with zero emissions. The conceptual design, combined with cost estimates, provides a clear financial plan and road map for future project phases.
